Howie has worked in the insurance and financial services business for more than 3 decades. He started out as an insurance brokerage assistant processing life insurance application and today serves clients in all stages of life with comprehensive financial planning. As a third-generation, self-employed business owner, he has a particular interest in working with entrepreneurs and other business owners.

Through his work experience and educational training, Howie obtained significant knowledge of the use of life insurance in wealth creation, income planning, family risk management, estate planning, deferred compensation, executive benefits and many other conceptual uses. He has exceptional insight in areas of investments, pension plans, and long-term care and disability insurance - skills he developed while working at insurance companies, Wall Street brokerage firms, and pension and estate planning firms. Howie routinely attends seminars, educational events and maintains his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation. He is licensed to sell life, health, and variable annuity insurance products, and has earned many securities industry exams.

"I grew up watching my father follow the Dow Jones every evening during Walter Cronkite. He was 60 when I was born, and money mattered to him in a way that stuck with me. Not the accumulation of it, but what it could do; security, opportunity, the ability to make choices. I've spent my career helping people figure out how to use their money well, not just grow it.

I've been in financial services since 1989, starting in insurance before building my own practice in 2006. I majored in French at the University of Vermont, which might seem unrelated until you consider that finance is a foreign language for most people. I see my role as a translator. There are usually multiple reasonable paths forward for any financial decision, and my job is to help you understand what each option actually means so you can choose what fits your life. I love assisting clients in realizing goals and creating opportunities for themselves.

I grew up in Lincoln, Vermont, a small rural hamlet where the most respected person was the farmer who worked the hardest and gave the most to the community. That ethic stuck with me. Now I live on a small farm in Frelinghuysen, New Jersey, with my husband Carlos, and our son. As an only child, having a spouse with a large family and raising a child has been a learning experience. I understand now what it costs to raise a family in a way I didn't before.

Outside of work, I breed, raise, show, and compete with Bedlington Terriers and Salukis. Salukis are one of the oldest dog breeds, dating back 7,000 to 8,000 years, and studying their history has opened new interests in art and ancient cultures. I serve as a delegate board member for the Bedlington Terrier Club of America to the American Kennel Club and as Vice President of the Garden State Saluki Club. I'm also interested with dog legislation, which has become increasingly important as laws affecting pet ownership have grown more restrictive.

I'm a third-generation business owner and hope to pass this practice to my nephew and possibly my son someday. What keeps me going is seeing people happy with the choices they've made and the results they've achieved. That's what this work is really about."
